Why this is awesome: During my birthday month celebration, I took a trip to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see Julianne Swartz’ How Deep Is Your exhibit. I’m a big fan of contemporary art installations and the new Contemporary Art wing of the IMA is amazing.
While there I wandered into a small gallery home to Do-Ho Suh’s “Floor.” It’s a brilliant piece composed of glass, polyurethane resin-covered panels held up by thousands — yes, thousands — of toy figurines. Suh’s piece shares a message of community and individuality coexisting in harmony. You’re invited to walk on “Floor” and share in the joy of collective strength and a tribute to the anonymous members of our society whose small acts keep us going.
