Why This Is Awesome: You may not have noticed, but I don't take a lot of selfies. It's one of the reasons I resisted Instagram for so long. As someone who has never been very photogenic, I tend to shy away from the camera because even though I'm a pretty tough cookie, I'm not a glutton for punishment.
That's why when I make an exception and share a selfie -- painstakingly curated after about 30 tries, of course -- it has to be for a good reason.
Well, commemorating my last day in Paris earlier this year seemed like a good reason at the time. And preparing for the busy march to the end of 2017 seems like another good reason ... at least to remind myself that even though the year did not turn out the way I'd hoped, sometimes, you walk away with a good memory or two of events that did go your way. Like the start of a new friendship, a gracious client willing to give you a second chance after you make a mistake, or even, a not-so-bad selfie in the courtyard of the Louvre, celebrating this capricious year this way feels like a fitting end.
