Why This Is Awesome: As you might recall, I mentioned in a previous post how this year marks the 100th anniversary of the formation of The Algonquin Round Table in New York. Well, I never thought I could afford to eat at the famed hotel restaurant, let alone stay for a night in the hotel itself, so last March I opted for next best thing: happy hour drinks and appetizers at the adjacent Blue Bar.
For my birthday, I met up with my buddy James and we enjoyed expensive cocktails and some of the best calamari I've ever had while drinking in the ambiance and history of this reinvented icon. Of course, my photo above does not do the space justice, so I encourage you all to go and see why I needed to know what all the hubbub was about.
And you know what, John Barrymore was right. Everyone does look better in blue light.
