Where To Find Me: New Jersey Stage Redux

Laiona Michelle in Little Girl Blue

If you recall, dear readers, last year I began contributing to a statewide arts and culture magazine called New Jersey Stage. The online publication occasionally picks up my arts-related blog posts here on Incandescere, but I also serve as an arts reviewer for certain eventstakingplace in Northern New Jersey from time to time.

Well, after a very busy time away, I've returned to share my two cents on a new musical premiering in New Jersey, this time at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick. And man, did I return at the right time! Laiona Michelle's Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical opened the last week of January and has been earning rave reviews ever since.

Thankfully, I had a chance to attend the February 1st opening night event, which provided a perfectly, heated jolt to an usually frigid evening. Although I was unable to stay and chat with the cast after the play, I was delighted to offer my thoughts on this singular experience and tell New Jersey Stage readers why this play is one they wouldn't want to miss.

What was that? You want to know what all the hubbub is about too? Then, by all means, go read my review of the opening night performance over on NewJerseyStage.com. It's titled: "It's Time You Know 'Little Girl Blue.'"

And if you've seen or plan to see Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical, which runs through February 24th, let me know what you think. Share your ideas with me below or over on Twitter or Instagram. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the show (and on my review).
