Why This Is Awesome: You may not have noticed, but I’ve been a bit under the radar lately here on my blog. That’s because for the past 2 weeks, and continuing through the end of the month, I’ve been attempting a major balancing act between 2 very involved part-time positions, combined with travel to Chicago, IL, and Williamsburg, VA. In short, I’ve been a busy bee.
But despite the conferences, annual meetings, exhibition preparations, and general management responsibilities of both positions, I haven’t let my entire life become an endless stream of to do lists and obligations. For example, although I had to catch a 6:25am plane to Virginia on Wednesday last week, that didn’t stop me from sitting in on “An Evening With Lenny Kravitz” at NJPAC on Tuesday evening. Although I went in on a Sunday afternoon to help create a layout for the upcoming art exhibition at the gallery, I still made my way over to Midtown Comics in downtown NYC afterwards to buy the next graphic novel in my grand re-read of the Hellblazer series now that I’ve finished #7.
And although I spent three very exhausting days in Chicago for an industry conference, I made a point to take a moment to look up every once and a while to capture the energy and unapologetic beauty of a city on the move. In other words, I may be taking the L, but I refuse to take an L, as life throws more than my plate may be able to handle at this time. In the photo above, you’ll see Chicagoans going about their lives during afternoon rush hour in the Loop. There’s so much detail caught in this momentary slice, I felt I had to share it with you, just as I had to make sure I appreciated it.
