Why This Is Awesome: As the year draws to a close, I find myself busier than ever. Dare I say, I'm almost too busy to blog. ;-)
But I'm never too busy to remember to stop and take in my surroundings. I currently reside in a city that's celebrating the 350th year since it was founded. A reality that may seem minor if you live in Asia, South America or Africa, but here in North America, civilizations that stood for thousands of years were destroyed when Europeans arrived, so a 350-year-old city is a pretty big accomplishment.

Although this stretch of Newark (along the corner of University Ave. & James St.) isn't exactly 350 years old, the vibrant history in this area of the city is undeniable. And the effort to preserve that history is worth applauding every year. Just something to remember as move forward into another trip around the sun.
