Discover Jersey Arts is a quarterly publication that covers the general arts and culture scene throughout the state of New Jersey, with three separate versions printed to include exclusive information that pertains to the North, Central and South regions of the state. In August 2019, the magazine’s editor reached out to offer me the opportunity to contribute to the Fall issue, and I happily accepted.
I wrote an article about the history of the Black Maria Film Festival, a popular contest that focuses on filmmakers who specialize in shorts. The annual festival also holds screenings of a variety of films that demonstrate the importance of the short film industry, and provides special programming to current professionals, interested beginners and the general public. The 2019 programming was held at the Hoboken Historical Museum over the course of 4 months.
